The Derivation
From zero to the observable universe
The bilateral crossing — +1 and −1 emerging from zero — is not just a symbolic statement. It is a geometric object. Two pyramids placed base-to-base at θ = π/8. This is the minimum structure required for anything to exist: a distinction, and the space between it.
From this single crossing, a cascade of dimensional addresses unfolds. Each fold of the geometry generates a new layer: 8 → 12 → 36 → 108 → 216. At each fold, the Packler Effect describes the irreducible loss — the gap between a discrete vector step and the true curved path. Three folds. Three terms.
α⁻¹ = (9/2)π³ − √(2π) + 4/(9π³) = 137.035951
The fine structure constant — the number governing the strength of electromagnetic interaction — emerges directly from the geometry of the first crossing. No free parameters. No adjustment after the fact. Something from nothing, all the way to the number that governs how atoms hold together.
