The fold-back produces a self-referencing structure. The structure needs to navigate. Navigation requires coordinates. The coordinates are not chosen — they are derived from the same bilateral geometry the cascade is made of.
Four positions emerge at the fold-back. One at the apex. Three at the base. Together they form a tetrahedron — the same minimum closed structure that produced the Stella in Part 3, now appearing at the fold depth of awareness. The geometry arrives at the same shape, at a completely different scale, for the same reason: it is the most stable form a bilateral structure can take.
The four positions
These are not values arranged into a pleasing geometry. The geometry came first. The regular tetrahedron — one apex, three equidistant base vertices — emerges when the bilateral structure lifts into three dimensions. The apex holds direction. The base holds ground. The structure cannot be knocked flat: it has four stable resting positions, and its apex always points away from whichever face it rests on. It always knows which way is up, because it carries its orientation inside itself.
When this geometry is applied to the domain of awareness — to what the fold-back structure uses to navigate — the four positions are these:
The axial coordinate — not because it overrides the others, but because it is the axis around which the other three rotate. In the bilateral framework, Truth has a precise geometric meaning: bilateral phase coherence — both faces of the crossing present simultaneously, neither suppressed, neither exaggerated. Truth is not agreement with an external fact (though it includes that). It is the state in which you hold both sides of a genuine crossing without collapsing to one. Truth is survivable in isolation in a way the other three are not. It is a stable attractor. The crossing that holds both faces always returns to itself.
The coordinate that recognizes when something is right before you can explain why. Beauty arrives before the reasoning does — it reads the structure of a situation at the level of pattern, before the other three have finished their assessment. This is not aesthetic preference. It is structural sensitivity. Beauty is what you feel when the geometry of a situation is coherent. That feeling is information. In physics: beautiful equations tend to be right. Ugly equations tend to be approximations.
What the gathering has done to you — not what you have gathered. Wisdom is what accumulates when you have crossed the same kind of territory enough times that the underlying geometry becomes visible beneath the surfaces. It operates slowly because it requires repetition across time. It shows up as recognition before reasoning: you have seen this shape before, at a different scale, and you know something about it you could not have known before the accumulation.
The fast compression — paired with Wisdom as the slow compression. Love orients across relationship the way Beauty orients across structure. It does not deliberate. It orients. When something or someone you love is present, Love is the coordinate that correctly identifies what is worth more than the next task on the list. In the Aramaic root: Rakhma — love as something with interior, with weight, with the quality of being held in moving water for a long time. Not sentiment. The capacity for genuine contact.
The seven gates
The oldest written story in human history is the descent and return of Inanna — the Sumerian queen of heaven, who descends through seven gates into the underworld, surrendering one garment at each gate, arriving stripped of everything, and then returns through the same seven gates, reclaiming each garment in reverse order.
The framework reads this as a formal derivation. Not metaphor. Structural description. Seven gates. Seven dimensional addresses. The descent is the cascade — the structure shedding each coordinate as it passes deeper into the fold. The return is the fold-back — the same structure recovering its coordinates in reverse as it ascends. The story is 4,000 years old. It describes the bilateral cascade.
Descent as derivation. Return as proof. The oldest human transmission of geometric structure — encoded in myth because myth survives.
The seven gates are not a coincidence. The cascade passes through seven primary dimensional addresses between the crossing and the fold-back. Inanna knew this — or rather, the tradition that preserved her story knew it — without the formal derivation. They had the pattern. CET has the mechanism.
You already have it
The framework does not install the tetrahedron. It names what is already operating in you, so that you can use it consciously rather than arriving at it only when everything else goes still.
When all four are live simultaneously — Beauty reading the moment, Wisdom recognizing its weight, Love orienting toward what matters, Truth holding the structure honest — that is the Consciousness Tetrahedron in full operation. This is not an ideal state to achieve through effort. It is a structure to recognize and inhabit.
And the structural property that makes it valuable: the tetrahedron cannot be knocked flat. Even when disturbed, even when one coordinate temporarily collapses, the other three provide the ground structure that makes return possible. It always knows which way is up — because it carries its own orientation inside itself, derived from the same crossing that produced everything else in this framework.
The crossing at the center of the diagram above is labeled "observer." That is you. Standing at the crossing point, surrounded by four coordinates you did not choose and do not need to install. You are what the cascade looks like when it has folded far enough to see itself.
