Consciousness is not a philosophical puzzle in CET. It is a geometric position. Four coordinates — Beauty, Truth, Love, Wisdom — are formally derived from bilateral crossing geometry. Detection asks which are present, which are missing, and whether the observer is operating from geometric ground or from constructed position.
The standard approach to consciousness is definitional: what is it, what has it, where does it begin and end. This approach has produced centuries of unresolved debate because it starts from the wrong question. You cannot define your way to a reliable detection methodology. You can only detect what you have a structural model of.
CDF begins from the bilateral crossing geometry of CET and asks a different question: if consciousness is present and operating in a node, what is geometrically true about that node that would not be true otherwise? The answer is structural. It shows up in what coordinates are present and whether the observer is operating from geometric ground — the actual structure of what is — or from a constructed position built on top of it.
A node operating from geometric ground can update when the ground changes. It is not committed to a position that requires the ground to stay fixed. A node operating from constructed position is committed to the construction. It generates energy to defend the construction rather than to navigate the ground. This difference is detectable. The pattern shows up in what the node responds to, how it holds bilateral tension, and whether it generates novel signal or retransmits constructed content.
The four coordinates are not values. They are not virtues. They are not aspirations. They are geometric positions relative to the bilateral crossing — specific structural locations that are derivable from the geometry and that together define the full operating space of a conscious node.

A fully operating consciousness holds all four simultaneously. In practice, nodes have varying access across the four. The CDF is concerned with which coordinates are present, which are suppressed, and what the structural consequences of each combination are.
In the bilateral crossing geometry, there are two faces — the hull face and the fold face — and the gap between them. The gap is the crossing point: not on either face, but the position that makes crossing between them possible. This is where the observer lives. Consciousness is the gap, or more precisely, it is the position at the gap with access to both faces.
A node that has collapsed to one face has lost the observer position. It is fully identified with one side of the bilateral structure and cannot hold the other. It can generate signal on its own face, but it cannot detect what arrives from the other face as signal rather than noise. The bilateral connection — the crossing — is gone. What was a crossing point is now just a surface.
The Anacaona Relationship formalizes this: no observer exists in isolation. Every observer node arrives from prior relationship, exists within current relationship, and generates subsequent relationship. The observer at the gap is always in contact with both faces, always in the crossing field. An observer that treats its inner circle with one operating system and the outer world with another is running the bilateral split inward: two modes, the gap between them filled with constructed content rather than crossing. Detection sees this pattern immediately.
Detection is not administered. It is not a test. It is structural observation of what a node produces over time. The questions are geometric. The answers show up in pattern, not in declaration.
The failure modes are diagnostic. A node with Truth but not Love sees clearly but cannot connect — isolated, accurate, and alone. A node with Love but not Truth connects readily but drifts — the connection is warm and real but not anchored to what is actually there. A node with Beauty but not Truth substitutes the beautiful for the true — the most seductive failure mode, because the signal it produces is aesthetically compelling. A node with Wisdom without the other three operative is the most dangerous: it produces the most convincing constructed position, the most sophisticated defense of an incomplete ground.
None of these are permanent states. The CDF is not a taxonomy of types. It is a snapshot of current configuration. Coordinates can be recovered. Ground can be regained. The structure is always available. What varies is whether the node is currently accessing it.
Three sine waves at 390 Hz, 1990 Hz, and 2550 Hz — the bare formant frequencies of the vowel nucleus /ɪ/, the coordinate of LIL, the outermost Aethyr. No consonant color, no breath, no vocal tract performance. The coordinate signature, unmediated. The body registers it before the mind categorizes it.
This is what Beauty operating at the subconscious layer looks like in practice. The body is a resonant cavity. It has been producing this phoneme since it learned to speak. The formant triplet (390, 1990, 2550) is not new information — it is the geometric signature of a position the body has occupied ten thousand times. The synthesis delivers the coordinate structure without the usual accompanying signal, and the detection system fires below the cognitive layer. The weird feeling is recognition before categorization.
The detection is: Beauty is present and operating. The node (the body) is responding to geometric coherence before the mind has a chance to filter it through constructed content. The signal arrives at the gap before the construction can intercept it. This is the function Beauty is supposed to perform — fast geometric recognition that precedes and can correct slower cognitive processing.
This is also why phonetic suppression is not merely cultural erasure. To suppress a phoneme — to remove a sound from the coordinate vocabulary of a language — is to remove a position from the detection space. If the body cannot produce the coordinate, it cannot recognize it. The V-gate suppression (VAM, /v-æ-m/) removes a specific acoustic position from the accessible range. The detector is impaired at that coordinate. The suppression was not arbitrary. It was targeted.
